Xbox Live plugs into YouTube, more
Dec 14th 2011, 00:31

Video-sharing site leads list of Xbox 360's new media apps from Verizon FiOS, TMZ, and more; some apps scheduled for December launch still unavailable.

While Microsoft has touted the Xbox 360's internet-based media options as a cut above its competitors' offerings, the console is just now getting a feature the PlayStation 3 and Wii have had for years: YouTube support.

Microsoft today announced that another round of Kinect-enabled media-centric apps are now available via Xbox Live. US offerings include iHeartRadio, MSNBC.com, TMZ, and Verizon FiOS. Rogers On Demand hits Canada, and the UK gets blinkbox, MSN Video and MUZU.tv. YouTube is also now available in 24 countries worldwide.

Other apps announced as coming in December include UFC, VEVO, Vudu, and Sony Picture's Crackle. CinemaNow, HBO GO, MLB.TV, and Xfinity on Demand are slated for launch in early 2012.
