It's not a stretch to say Ubisoft's Just Dance franchise owns the boogie game genre. The next closest competitor--Harmonix's Dance Central--has gone platinum but isn't close to the French publisher's series. Today, the gap was extended, as Nintendo has announced that Just Dance 2 has sold 5 million units, becoming the eighth Wii title to reach that landmark.
The milestone was reached in July, when the Wii-exclusive dancing game tallied an additional 122,000 units at retail, according to the latest NPD data. The Wii now has eight titles that have sold in excess of 5 million units, which Nintendo said was twice as many as "competing current-generation consoles" have combined.
Nintendo also provided specific sales for the other seven Wii games to break the 5 million mark. These titles include: Wii Play (13.04 million), Mario Kart Wii (10.64 million), New Super Mario Bros. Wii (8.36 million), Wii Fit (8.17 million), Wii Fit Plus (7.06 million), Wii Sports Resort (6.45 million), and Super Smash Bros. Brawl (5.28 million).
