SCOGA to launch assistance program for Singaporean pro gamers Jan 25th 2012, 04:05 Program currently worth S$20,000 ($15,795); covers travel and accommodations for selected participants. Singapore's Cybersports and Online Gaming Association (SCOGA) recently held an e-sports seminar on January 21 at the Esplanade Xchange centre where the organisation announced the new Gamer Assistance Program, designed to help top Singaporean competitive gamers compete overseas. The program's current trust fund is at S$20,000 ($15,795), provided by SCOGA and Singapore Press Holdings subsidiary Sphere Exhibits, and will grow over time. The funds will cover travel and accommodation for selected participants; the program will only sponsor individuals and not teams and pro-gaming organisations. According to blog site No Game No Talk, applications are only open to Singaporean citizens and permanent residents. The Gamer Assistance Program is currently worth S$20,000. Full details, like the conditions for application, will be revealed on a later date. SCOGA will be discussing with community leaders on how funds will be distributed in a fair manner via a private Facebook group. On a related note, SCOGA also announced that the upcoming Singapore Toys, Games and Comic Convention and Licence2Play will be held at the Marina Bay Sands. The former will be held on September while the latter will be held on December.
