FIFA Street tackling 360, PS3 in early 2012
Aug 17th 2011, 01:19

EA Sports calling up informal soccer title next year with focus on localized football styles from regions around the globe.

EA Sports is paying homage to soccer's roots with the announcement of FIFA Street, a new game focused on replicating the way the sport is played by street players from around the world. FIFA Street is in development for the Xbox 360 and PlayStation, and EA Sports plans to release the game early next year.

The EA Canada-developed title will feature new dribbling styles, trick moves, and one-touch passing. FIFA Street will also introduce street ball control, which is designed to ignite one-on-one battles within matches that are based on how the game is played in different countries.

FIFA Street will allow players to compete in more than 35 locations, from one-on-one battles in parking lots and parks to five-versus-five tournaments on the streets of capital cities, with and against both club players and real-life street players. Players will also be encouraged to utilize aerial skills to maneuver past opponents from an arsenal of over 50 new moves.

EA plans to reveal the game's player models and online features in the next few months. However, FIFA Street will be connected to the EA Sports Football Club. Players who purchase an EA Sports Season Ticket will also get full-game digital access to FIFA Street three days prior to launch.

EA Sports' original FIFA Street franchise was a combination of arcade action and freestyle street soccer. It was originally released in 2005 on the GameCube, PlayStation 2, and Xbox.
