Mortal Kombat gets Komplete Edition
Jan 9th 2012, 16:48

Last year's fighting franchise revamp being re-released for Xbox 360 and PS3 February 28 with all downloadable characters, skins, fatalities, music CD, and copy of 1995 film.

Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment is preparing a deadly double dip for last year's revamp of the Mortal Kombat fighting franchise. The publisher today announced a February 28 launch for Mortal Kombat Komplete Edition on Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3.

The Komplete Edition of the game includes all four downloadable characters, as well as 15 throwback skins for the cast and three "Klassic" fatalities for the series' original trio of masked ninjas: Sub-Zero, Scorpion, and Reptile. The package will also come with downloadable versions of the 1995 feature film Mortal Kombat, as well as the music CD Mortal Kombat: Songs Inspired by The Warriors.

The first game in the franchise since 2008's Mortal Kombat vs. DC Universe and the ninth in the series, Mortal Kombat was intended as a back-to-basics reboot. With a roster pulled almost entirely from the first three games in the series, Mortal Kombat also eschewed the 3D gameplay of later entries in the series by constraining the action to a 2D plane. The vanilla version of the game has sold more than 3 million copies to date.
