Google TV platform to include cloud gaming service with all forthcoming devices; OnLive viewer available today, with full access coming later.
Though Microsoft believes streaming services are the "distant future" of cloud-based gaming, Google and OnLive think they're considerably closer.
Today, cloud-based gaming company OnLive announced a new partnership with technology giant Google that will see OnLive integrated into all Google TV devices.
Full OnLive integration into the Google TV platform is not yet live, but the OnLive Viewer is now available to download for all Google TV devices through the Android marketplace.
The OnLive viewer allows gamers to watch games in progress, view and rate Brag clips, read up on news, and access their friends lists.
"We're excited that OnLive will be making the highest-quality video games available to all Google TV users," said Google TV Content Partnerships' Shanna Preve. "OnLive's groundbreaking instant-play service truly demonstrates the versatility and power of Google TV."
At the moment, only some Sony televisions have Google TV built in, but the service is expanding to sets from LG, Samsung, and Vizio.
