Telecom giant announces month-to-month data plan prices for 3G iteration of new handheld starting at $15/250MB; $25/2GB plan also available at launch.

The PlayStation Vita is due to launch in North America on February 22, and today the system's exclusive 3G service provider, AT&T, cleared up a lingering uncertainty about the device, announcing data plan prices for the 3G iteration of the handheld.

Gamers who pick up the $299 3G version of the PS Vita can choose to pay monthly fees of $15 for 250MB of data, or $25 for 2GB of data. Both plans are month-to-month and do not require a contract of any sort.

AT&T is the exclusive service provider in the US for the PS Vita. Customers who buy into AT&T's service plan for the PS Vita will also have free access to more than 24,000 Wi-Fi hot spots nationwide.

The news stems from AT&T's media briefing today at the 2012 Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas and is confirmed by a tweet from Sony. For more on the convention, look for further coverage from GameSpot and sister site CNET.
