EA Sports' latest golf sim hitting range for Xbox 360 and PS3 with Kinect and Move support; "comprehensive" swing control revamp promised.
Professional golfer Tiger Woods recently recorded his first win in over two years, notching a victory at the Chevron World Challenge in Los Angeles last month. EA Sports is similarly returning its Tiger Woods golf sim franchise to the spotlight, today announcing a March 27 tee time for Tiger Woods PGA Tour 13.
Tiger Woods PGA Tour 13 will include what EA Sports calls the "most comprehensive swing mechanic revamp in over a decade." According to EA Sports, gamers will have "full control over their swing" through the use of new tempo, swing plane, and shot power controls. Additionally, Tiger Woods PGA Tour 13 will give players new pre-shot options, allowing them to address the ball in a range of ways.
The Xbox 360 iteration of Tiger Woods PGA Tour 13 will include Kinect control (with voice command support), and the PS3 version will work with PlayStation Move.
In terms of available players, Tiger Woods PGA Tour 13 includes 22 real-world professional golfers, including Tiger Woods, Rory McIlroy, Bubba Watson, Rickie Fowler, and others. According to EA Sports, more information about the game's roster will be made available next week.
In addition to the standard version of Tiger Woods PGA Tour 13, a Master's Collector's Edition of the game will be available at launch. This $70 top-tier iteration of the golfing sim includes everything from the standard version of the game, as well as access to the Augusta National Golf Club's tournament practice range, Augusta National's par 3 course, and an "authentic Green Jacket Presentation."
On top of adding new swing controls, Tiger Woods PGA Tour 13 will include a new Tiger's Golf Legacy component. This game mode lets players partake in significant events of Tiger Woods' career, beginning during his childhood and chronicling his rise to becoming the world's top golfer.
Additionally, the collector's edition of Tiger Woods PGA Tour 13 packs in five extra championship courses not found in the standard version of the game, bringing the total course count to 21.
Tiger Woods PGA Tour 12: The Masters was the first franchise installment to include the prestigious Augusta National golf course and its signature event, The Masters. That draw proved appealing for gamers, as Tiger Woods PGA Tour 12: The Masters sold 225,000 units in its first week, marking a new franchise record.
