Warhorse Studios inks CryEngine 3 deal for RPG
Feb 9th 2012, 14:29

Newly formed studio to use Crytek's latest game engine to build company's first title, an open-world role-playing game.

The engine that powered Crysis 2 will also run the new role-playing game from Warhorse Studios, a newly formed shop founded by former Mafia and Operation Flashpoint developers, the company announced today.

The Czech Republic-based studio is presently at work on an unannounced open-world role-playing game. Warhorse Studios has not announced platforms for the title or when it is expected to release.

CryEngine 3 was used in Crytek's well-received Crysis 2, as well as October's re-release of the original Crysis for Xbox Live Arcade and the PlayStation Network. The game engine will also be used in upcoming games MechWarrior Online and Sniper: Ghost Warrior 2.

Warhorse Studios was cofounded by Mafia design director Dan Vavra and Operation Flashpoint: Dragon Rising developer Martin Klima in July, 2011. The pair has also enlisted some familiar faces to work at Warhorse in the form of Mafia animator Zbynek Travnivky and fellow Operation Flashpoint developer Viktor Bocan.
