PSN returns to Japan on July 6
5 Jul 2011, 6:07 am

While the PlayStation Network has been restored in North America, Europe, and South-East Asia, the service in Japan has yet to receive any updates regarding its network services. Sony Computer Entertainment recently announced on their Japanese website that the PSN will be restored on July 6.

The restoration includes access to the Japanese PlayStation Store, and all forms of functionality of the Qriocity service. Specifically, members will have access to performing in-game item purchases, inputting product and PlayStation Network card codes, video functionality through the Qriocity service and Media Go.

While Sony has yet to make an official statement on the reason for the delay, a news article from Nikkei suggested that the company had to provide further information and get approval from the Media and Content Industry department at the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry, as well as with local credit card companies.

Full PSN services were restored in North America, Europe, and Asia starting June 2.
