Splinter Cell/EndWar developers Audrey Leprince and Emeric Thoa announce new mobile-focused shop; Squids the studio's first game, due this fall for PC, Mac, and mobiles.
Ubisoft has spun espionage author Tom Clancy's properties into many big-budget titles, including the EndWar and Splinter Cell franchises. Now, a pair of former Clancy game developers is heading in the opposite direction, working on smaller, mobile-based games at a new shop, The Game Bakers.
The new company--based in Paris and Montpellier, France--is led by Audrey Leprince and Emeric Thoa, ex-Ubisoft developers whose credits include work on Tom Clancy's EndWar and Splinter Cell: Double Agent, respectively. Leprince and Thoa will be joined by "senior developers" from the video game industry, as well as talent from the comic book sector.
The Game Bakers is a mobile-themed shop focused on crafting "AAA quality" games. The studio's first title is called Squids, which is slated for release on the PC, Mac, and mobile platforms. An adventure game, Squids has players recruiting a band of misfit cephalopods in an effort to rid the sea of the nefarious Black Ooze. The game is expected to arrive this fall.
