Danger Close bringing shooter sequel to shelves this fall; will run on DICE's Frostbite 2.0 game engine with multiplayer developed internally.
The next Medal of Honor game has crept from the shadows. According to the Official Xbox Magazine (via Game Informer), the new game is titled Medal of Honor: Warfighter, and is due out this October.
Developed by the original game's Danger Close studio, Warfighter will run on EA DICE's Frostbite 2.0 engine, which powered Battlefield 3. The game will reportedly follow a group of Tier 1 Operators, as was the case in 2010's Medal of Honor.
And while Danger Close will be using DICE's game engine, it won't be calling on the studio to once again handle Medal of Honor's multiplayer component. According to OXM, Danger Close is bringing Warfighter's multiplayer component in-house.
No mention was made as to which platforms Medal of Honor: Warfighter will ship for, but the 2010 game landed on the Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, and PC.
According to the magazine, publisher Electronic Arts will have more details to share concerning Medal of Honor: Warfighter at the 2012 Game Developers Conference in San Francisco next month. EA is holding a Medal of Honor-themed event in that city on March 6.
