Secret World delayed to June 19
Feb 21st 2012, 17:17

Funcom holds back its modern-day massively multiplayer online role-playing game "to apply even more polish before launch."

Funcom is keeping The Secret World a secret for a little longer. The publisher today announced that it is delaying the modern-day massively multiplayer online role-playing game from its previous April launch window to June 19.

The delay may result in a better game for early adopters. In a statement, Funcom said the postponement was made because the company "has decided to invest more development time into the title in order to apply even more polish before launch." To date, Funcom has registered more than 750,000 beta testers, and the delay will allow the studio to announce more public testing periods for The Secret World.

Originally announced for the Xbox 360 and PC in 2007, The Secret World posits an alternate universe in which a modern-day world has been torn asunder by the reemergence of magic and other occult activity. Players will join one of three occult factions and battle one another for control of strategic locations throughout the world, including Egypt, New York, and Seoul.
