CD Projekt Red reveals The Witcher 2 just barely went platinum last year, 2007 original role-playing game purchased by 400,000.

Last November, The Witcher developer CD Projekt Red revealed pirates made off with at least 4.5 million copies of The Witcher 2: Assassins of Kings in 2011. Today, the company revealed that legitimate sales of the the original Witcher and its sequel during the year paled in comparison to that figure, coming in at just over 1.5 million units combined.

The Witcher 2: Assassins of Kings accounted for the strongest series sales for the developer in 2011, moving over 1.1 million copies since its debut during May 2011. According to CD Projekt Red, 24 percent of those sales--or about 270,000--came through digital channels.

The first Witcher title, which shipped during 2007, sold over 400,000 units during 2011, the developer said.

The Witcher 2: Assassins of Kings Enhanced Edition is due out on the Xbox 360 and PC in North America on April 17. That game includes four hours of additional content, which takes place in new locations and features fresh characters to interact with.
