Gather round all you Next-Gen gamers and I'll tell you a tale of a time long forgotten; an age when to play a new video game one needed to journey out in the cold dark world into dungeons our ancestors use to call "brick and mortar stores". Here at these chambers of retail gamers would do battle with parking lots, lines, and crowds, all in the hopes that their video game treasure would not be sold out.
Then came the dawn of a new age, one that kept gamers safe in the confined of their couches, braking them free from the chains of retailers and "sold out" signs - a brand new technology that would download libraries of video games directly to their consoles.
Today we know them as gaming portals and worship at the alters of Xbox Live Arcade, PlayStation Network, Wii Virtual Console, and even Steam, but at the dawn of this downloadable gaming age was PlayCable, the first video game portal.
