Browser-based real-time strategy and trading card game hybrid holds closed beta this month.
Even with Final Fantasy XIII-2 on the horizon, Square Enix is still keeping busy with a multitude of other projects. The company has now revealed another game, a title it's making in collaboration with Yahoo! Japan called Monster x Dragon.
According to a recent update on Square Enix and Yahoo! Japan's game pages, the browser-based title is a mixture of real time strategy and a trading card game. Players control a mercenary and must team up with other online players to fight in 100-man battles with other online groups.
Users can choose between different types of mercenaries with varying powers. The game allows players to combine monsters, mercenary powers, and crystals that form into different attacks and team abilities. The game also aims to have a simplified interface for battles, navigation, and party management so that it is tailor-made for all audiences.
A closed beta for the game will be held from October 13 until October 28. The last browser game Square Enix created was Knights of the Crystals where gamers teamed up with their friends in turn-based combat and questing on social network platforms like Facebook and GREE.
