UFC app grapples onto XBL December 1
Oct 7th 2011, 15:06

Ultimate Fighting Championship app coming to Xbox Live this December with pay-per-view events, on-demand content, and Kinect integration.

The Xbox Live roster of live sports content is about to get a bit deeper, as Microsoft announced this morning that an Ultimate Fighting Championship channel will launch through Xbox Live on December 1.

The UFC app will allow users to order live events and choose from a catalog of on-demand UFC content. Additionally, the app includes social features, through which users can predict fight results and compare fighter statistics and records. Microsoft did not announce prices for individual pay-per-view events, but did note high-definition and standard definition pricing options will be offered.

The first available broadcast for users of the new UFC app will be UFC 140, which will air live from the Air Canada Centre in Toronto on December 10. The broadcast will include pre-fight events like weigh-ins and interviews, and then the fight itself.

Gamers won't need their Xbox 360 controller to navigate through the UFC app. UFC on Xbox Live will support Kinect, allowing users to select an event, and play, pause, or rewind the content via the gesture-recognition technology.

Microsoft also noted that an Xbox Live Gold subscription is "required for premium video content and some features."
