Music rhythm 3DS title to feature over 50 songs from franchise; new characters revealed.
The Final Fantasy series is not just renowned for its story, but also for its huge library of music. Square Enix's music library for the franchise is so big and popular that it has spawned concerts like Distant Worlds and, most recently, an upcoming rhythm game called Theatrhythm Final Fantasy. The company recently announced the final release date of the 3DS title on its official website: February 16, 2012.
The game will feature over 50 songs from all 13 Final Fantasy titles. Players have to hit inputs to the beat of the song using the 3DS' touchscreen. The game will also feature SpotPass options.
On a related note, newly-announced characters in the rhythm title include FF XIII's Snow, FF VII's Aerith, FF IX's Vivi, FFXI's Prishe, FF V's Faris, FF III's Cid, and FF I's Princess Sara. These characters can be recruited and unlocked by collecting crystal fragments in-game. For more information, check out GameSpot's recent coverage on the title during Tokyo Game Show 2011. Square Enix has yet to announce a North American version of the game.
