Massachusetts Convention Center Authority inks deal with PAX organizers to bring east coast gaming convention to Beantown for at least 10 more years.
PAX East isn't leaving Boston anytime soon. The Massachusetts Convention Center Authority (MCAA) today announced that it had signed a deal with PAX organizers to keep the show in Beantown through 2023.
The previous contract was set to expire after the 2012 show, which will be held April 6-8. PAX organizers said they are hoping to grow attendance for the three-day show size to 100,000, making it one of the biggest gaming gatherings in the business.
As part of the new deal, PAX East organizers have agreed to donate $25,000 per year to the Massachusetts Digital Games Institute (MassDigi), an endeavor launched last year by lieutenant governor Timothy Murray to promote a dialogue between academia and the gaming industry.
