Xbox Singapore hosts Dance Central Championships 2012

Qualifiers going on from today until April 5 at various Singapore locations; finals on April 8 at Plaza Singapura.

Gamers in Singapore who think they can bust a move in style should check out Xbox Singapore's latest contest involving its Kinect title Dance Central 2. The company is holding the Dance Central Championships 2012 contest which starts from February 13 until April 8.

Qualifying rounds will be held from February 13 until April 5 in the following malls: IMM, 313 Orchard, Tampines 1, Plaza Singapura. The qualifiers will also be held at schools such as the ITE College Central on February 15, Singapore Polytechnic on February 16, Anglo-Chinese Junior College on February 24, and Nanyang Technological University on March 16.

The semi-finals and finals will be held at Plaza Singapura from April 6 to April 8. The judges for the finals are Mediacorp DJ Rosalyn "Rozz" Lee from 98.7FM and Vernon Huang from dance studio Studio Wu.

The contest will be divided into three categories: singles, doubles and junior. For the first two, contestants will need to be 13 years of age and above, while for the latter, contestants will need to be between 6 to 12 years old. The winner for the singles category will win S$2000 and get a gold medal for his or her troubles, while the second place winner gets S$500 and a silver medal.

The champion for the doubles will get to share the prize of S$4000, two gold medals, plus an additional S$500 if both contestants came from the same school.
