TrackMania developer Nadeo crafting online PC multiplayer first-person shooter with "extensive" map editor; open beta due in coming months.
At its media presentation at the 2011 Electronic Entertainment Expo, Ubisoft unveiled first-person shooter ShootMania, but said little about it. Today, the publisher formally announced the game as ShootMania Storm, and offered the first details about the title.
A PC multiplayer online game, ShootMania Storm is currently in development at TrackMania shop Nadeo. According to Ubisoft, the game will boast "extensive" map editing options, where players can design and share their creations with the community. This sharing will be done through ManiaPlanet 2.0, an upgrade to the creation platform launched in 2010.
Ubisoft did not announce a release date for ShootMania Storm, but the company did say an open beta for the shooter will launch during the months ahead. A website for the game is currently live, and it gives gamers a first glimpse at the art design of the title.
